Oktapodi est un court-métrage de fin d’étude réalisé en Juillet 2007 par Julien Bocabeille @thebokbok, François-Xavier Chanioux, Olivier Delabarre, Thierry Marchand, Quentin Marmier et Emud Mokhberi. Il a été nommé Best Animated Short Film à la 81ᵉ cérémonie des Oscars.

L’important travail pour obtenir une animation 3D de grande qualité a été supporté par la programmation de rigs complexes: technical paper SIGGRAPH 2008.

Le court-métrage a gagné de nombreux prix : Jury Award SIGGRAPH Asia 2008, Best of Show and Audience Prize SIGGRAPH 2008, Canal+ Family Award au Festival d’Annecy 2008, Special International Jury Prize à Hiroshima 2008, Best Student Film and Audience Prize à Anima Mundi 2008, Best Student Animated Short Film au FICCI BAF 2008, Best Animation Award à Imagina 2008.

Avant de rejoindre le cursus Gobelins, Julien Bocabeille a fait une année préparatoire à l’Atelier de Sèvres, François-Xavier Chanioux a fait l’EMCA, Olivier Delabarre Emile-Cohl et Emud Mokhberi un Master’s degree en Computer Science à l’UCLA puis Digital Domain, Thierry Marchand est ingénieur ENSI et Quentin Marmier designer de l’ENSAAMA.
