Fred Nagorny is a french animator. He has taught 2D and 3D animation production, character design and motion design at Gobelins Paris since 1988, as well as in other french professional schools (Arts Décoratifs Paris ENSAD, University of Marne-la-Vallée Gustave Eiffel, INA, AFIDE, ADIS, Gobelins Annecy).

He began animation at an early age, using a custom bench-title and his parents Super8 camera to produce shorts, studying motion design from cartoons to realistic effects. After graduating as an architect, he started in the industry as a layout man, then moved to lead 2d animation productions in France, Paris and Montpellier.

In the late 80’s, he applied 2d animation methods, like keyframes and tweens, to the new computer generated 3d animation medium. He teamed-up with Raymond Perrin to create the Character software to support his vision. That leaded the Relief studio to produce award-winning short films, like Le Pantin, and multiple commissioned films. Relief’s Character software was eventually integrated into Softimage and has contributed to numerous films.
